JD Contracting have two distinct divisions – haulage and resurfacing. When JD Contracting was set up by father and son, Jon and Phil Davies, the intention was to offer only resurfacing work. However, with this type of work mainly done during the warmer months it became apparent that something else was needed. Using the HGVs in the winter for transport was a logical use of the equipment. The location of the business also meant transporting grain and animal feed was a logical choice as the largest volumes of these products are delivered during the slower time for resurfacing. It may seem an odd combination but entirely logical.
